DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Mathematical & Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a 2-year term appointment with the possibility of extension, to join Dr. Michael Groechenig’s research group.
The Research Associate is expected to collaborate with Dr. Groechenig on various projects related to motivic integration, motives of moduli stacks, Zakharevich K-theory of varieties and similar topics. The Research Associate will support organization of conferences and workshops; assist in preparation of scientific publications; publish results through journal papers; disseminate results by attending scientific conferences and workshops; and contribute to the research and teaching mission of Groechenig’s group.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – Ph.D. in a relevant area of pure mathematics.
Experience – minimum of five (5) years of post-doctoral experience.
Skills – demonstrated success in the writing and preparation of manuscripts; publications or preprints in the fields of algebraic K-theory, Zakharevich K-theory of varieties, higher local fields and Beilinson-Parshin adèles.
Other – Superior communication and organizational skills; self-motivated with an ability to multi-task; ability to lead a project and co-ordinate research teams; supervisory skills including effective teambuilding and the ability to establish positive working relationships and foster collaboration to achieve common goals; experience in training and monitoring performance; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational, decision-making and management skills.
