Frequently Asked Questions

This section will be updated as questions are received from members.

A1. The new by-laws will be voted on at the CMS Annual General Meeting during the CMS Summer meeting in Saint John, NB, on Saturday, June 6; all CMS members are welcome to vote/all CMS members in attendance can vote.   If approved, the new structure will be adopted on January 1, 2027.  Initially populated by existing Board members, the new Council and Executive Board will hold elections for about one third of their complement in the spring, to start July 1, 2027.

Please use the form linked in the section below and we’ll direct your query or comment to the best person.

A3.  The CMS Board has been considering these changes for the past year.  We have hired a Governance Consultant, Mongeon Consulting, who has significant experience in helping organizations develop efficient governance structures that meet national standards for not-for-profit organizations like ourselves.  The Governance Committee, composed of Tim Alderson (VP Atlantic), Kseniya Garaschuk (Director, Ontario) and David Oakden (Treasurer), together with our Executive Director, Termeh Kousha, have been working closely with Mongeon Consulting to arrive at a model (and all the supporting by-laws and charters) that meets our needs.
