CMS Mathematical Competitions

Come participate in the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC), held each November. Students from across Canada and around the world are invited to compete in this written competition held at their own schools. Besides prizes and awards, the top students are get invitations to the elite national math competitions such as the Canadian Math Olympiad and from there, they could be invited to train and represent Canada at international events such as the APMO, EGMO and even the International Mathematical Olympiad!

CMS Student Committee (Studc)

The Canadian Mathematical Society Student Committee (CMS Studc) was created in 1999 to help the Society serve the needs of university students. The Committee aims to develop and support the community of mathematics students across Canada.

Each year, the Committee carries out a number of major projects. We host a variety of events at the semi-annual CMS Meetings, including the AARMS-CMS Student Poster Session, panel discussions, various workshops, and a student social. Studc also oversees the bidding process and operation of the Canadian Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (CUMC), which brings together over one hundred math undergraduates annually at a Canadian university. We produce and distribute a semi-annual publication, Notes from the Margin. The Committee also administers a regional conference fund, to support local student initiatives across the country.
