Ottawa, ON – The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is proud to announce the students selected to represent Canada at the upcoming 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), to be held in Shanghai, China from July 10th to 21st, 2026.
Chosen through a rigorous national selection process, Math Team Canada’s six members demonstrated exceptional problem-solving ability and mathematical creativity across a series of competitions and training activities, including the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC) and the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO).
Introducing Math Team Canada 2026:

- Ansh Agarwal, Grade 12, Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ON)
- Perry Dai, Grade 11, University of Toronto Schools (Toronto, ON)
- Yuxin Fu, Grade 12, Stouffville District S.S. & Leading Aces Academy (Richmond Hill, ON)
- Christopher Li, Grade 12, Olympiads School (North York, ON)
- Tiger (Tianyi) Li, Grade 10, Milliken Mills High School (Markham, ON)
- Leo Wu, Grade 11, Bayview Secondary School (Richmond Hill, ON)
Together, they will join over 100 countries in what is widely regarded as the world’s premier mathematics competition for high school students.
Math Team Canada will be supported by an experienced group of mentors and trainers:

- Eric Shen (University of Cambridge) – Team Leader
- Howard Halim (Modal Inc.) – Deputy Leader
- Emily Ma (Harvard University) – Observer
In preparation for the competition, the team will participate in a training camp in Toronto, where they will work with coaches and trainers on advanced problem-solving techniques.

About the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the world championship high school mathematics competition. The IMO began in 1959 in Romania with seven participating countries. Math Team Canada expects to compete against the world’s best students from over 100 countries in the 67th IMO. Canada has earned 44 gold, 73 silver, 98 bronze medals, and 21 honourable mentions since first competing in 1981.
