COVID-19 Update

Due to the recent increase of COVID-19 cases in Canada, many of you may have questions about the impact on the 75th CMS Anniversary Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The CMS continues to monitor the situation from day to day and as of now, the meeting is scheduled to go forward. If the situation worsens or authorities recommend that events not go forward, the CMS will notify you immediately of cancellation or postponement.

According to Canada Public Health, at this time PHAC has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for the general population, but this could change. There is an increased risk of more severe outcomes for Canadians:

– aged 65 and over
– with compromised immune systems
– with underlying medical conditions

While a COVID-19 outbreak is not unexpected in Canada, our public health system is prepared to respond. Ontario is working with its partners in the health care system to implement a robust plan to monitor, detect and, if needed, isolate any cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

The CMS advises all participants to stay informed of the status of COVID-19 and make their own decision about their visit. Consult your local health authority before making travel arrangements. Please check the CMS and CMS Summer Meeting websites for any update about the situation.

For the upcoming CMS 75th Anniversary Summer Meeting, CMS will permit a full refund without any penalty to all attendees.
