CMS Launches the Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition
The Canadian Mathematical Society is excited to announce the launch of the CMS’ very first mathematical competition for elementary students, the Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition (CMGC).
The CMGC will take place in October of each year and will consist of three blocks of 5 questions with an increasing level of difficulty from beginning to end. The Competition will take place virtually in 2020.
For more information, please visit the Competition’s home page. Registration starts in September.
To reaffirm its commitment to equity and equality and to a better future for the mathematical community, and to engage a greater number of Black and Indigenous students in mathematics and STEM activities, the CMS will waive the registration fee of 200 Black and Indigenous students to participate in the Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition. We invite educators and school principals to inform their students and their caregivers of this initiative and encourage them to participate in the competition. For more information, please visit our Closing the Gap page.
