A Message from the President of the Canadian Mathematical Society Regarding the Recent Passing of Peter Borwein

The Canadian mathematician and friend of the Canadian Mathematical Society, Peter Borwein, passed away on August 23. Here is the CMS President’s message regarding this sad news.

The CMS is saddened by the news of the passing of a friend, colleague and brilliant mathematician, Peter Borwein. Peter Borwein had served on many CMS committees and boards including the CMS Book Series Editorial Board, the CJM/CMB Editorial Board, Electronic Services Committee and various meeting committees. The CMS is grateful for Peter’s dedication and involvement throughout his fruitful career. He has been an inspiration to many mathematicians and educators in the community. On behalf of the Society, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the mathematical community.
