Nomination Requirements
Candidates
- Must have received their Ph.D. from a Canadian university in the preceding calendar year (January 1 to December 31).
- Must be a member of the Canadian mathematical community.
- The CMS aims to promote and celebrate diversity in the broadest sense. We strongly encourage department chairs and nominating committees to put forward nominations for outstanding candidates regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
Nominators
- Provide a nomination letter describing the candidate's suitability for this award.
- Provide a recent CV, authored by the candidate.
- Provide a résumé of the candidate's work, authored by the candidate. It should briefly describe the thesis and why it is important, along with any other contributions the student made while a doctoral student. Maximum 10 pages.
- The names of three other supporters who have agreed to provide recommendation letters by the deadline. One letter should come from the thesis advisor and one from an external examiner; a copy of the external examiner's report may be substituted for the latter.
Recipients
- Will be asked to prepare a prize lecture and present it at the Summer Meeting.

Selection Committee
The recipient is chosen by the Doctoral Prize Selection Committee based on the strength and merit of the nominations.
Outstanding overall performance in graduate school is the basis for selection. Although the dissertation will be the most important criterion (the impact of the results, the creativity of the work, the quality of exposition, etc.), other publications, activities in support of students and other accomplishments will also be considered.
