Results Announced for the 2025 Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition
Ottawa, ON – The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to share the results of the 2025 Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition (CLMC).
Now in its third year, the CLMC continues to grow in popularity, drawing 3,092 participants from across Canada and around the globe. This year’s competition was held on October 2 and 3, 2025.
Participants demonstrated outstanding problem-solving skills, with a median score of 47 out of 80, and 42 students achieving a perfect result – a significant improvement over last year’s scores. Full statistics are available here.
Dr. Richard Hoshino (Chair, CLMC Committee), congratulates the participants:
“Congratulations to all participants in this year’s Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition! We hope you found the problems both challenging and rewarding. Thank you for participating. We look forward to welcoming you again next year!”
A complete list of award recipients can be found here. Teachers may log in to the competition portal to view their students’ detailed results and download certificates.
The CMS extends heartfelt congratulations to all 2025 CLMC participants for their hard work. Following another successful CLMC, the Society now looks ahead to its next competitions – the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC, October 30, 2025 – Register before October 23!) and the Canada Jay Mathematical Competition (CJMC, November 20, 2025 – Register before November 13!).
About the Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition (CLMC)
The Canada Lynx Mathematical Competition (CLMC) is the newest CMS math competition for students in grades 7-12, with questions based primarily on grades 7-11 core curriculum.
The CLMC is meant to foster interest and to increase confidence among students when it comes to their math abilities. The competition presents mathematics as a fun and playful subject to students. It is also a good tool for teachers to assess students’ mathematical skills at the beginning of the school year. The CLMC consists of 15 multiple-choice questions, which are divided in three parts and progress in difficulty.
