Institutional Membership

The Canadian Mathematical Society has three institutional categories based on the universities’ highest level of granting degree offered in mathematics or other math related degrees. We also have a separate category for all Colleges, Cegeps and High Schools.

Institutional membership is based on the calendar year, from January through December.

Why do Universities, Colleges, Cegeps and High Schools become CMS institutional members?

  • To help shape the future of math research in Canada
  • To improve math education in Canada
  • To receive subscriptions to journals and additional discounts on publications
  • For discounted rates on employment listings and advertising
  • To support CMS as the national voice of mathematics in Canada

How do CMS institutional members promote Canadian mathematics?

As an Institutional member, you can promote Canadian mathematics across a diverse range of activities and initiatives including:

  • Faculty members volunteer on CMS committees and working groups
  • Institution can host semi-annual research and education meetings
  • Staging CMS sponsored math camps for students
  • Facilitating faculty participation on CMS scholarly journal editorial boards
  • Participating in CMS cross-Institutional initiatives
  • Strengthening CMS advocacy for the University community
  • Enriching exposure among faculty, students and peers across Canada

The contribution of all CMS members allows us to promote the application of math in Canadian industry; to support math outreach; and by helping support math enrichment opportunities. This will ensure that we, all together, sustain mathematics now and for future generations.
