The CMS has several standing committees, subcommittees and editorial boards staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to the mission and important work of the Society. The Board of Directors and Executive are elected by the membership. The next election will be held in spring 2023.
In September 2022 the CMS Nominating Committee rolled out a Call of Interest methodology for filling CMS standing committee vacancies (read here). The goal of this methodology is to ensure transparency in the process of staffing committees and to increase diversity and representation across CMS committees. The Call of Interest is made annually in the fall for positions commencing the following January.
As some vacancies occur out of sync with the calendar year, the CMS continues to receive expressions of volunteer interest throughout the year and reserves the right to fill committee vacancies through this means or others should vacancies need to be addressed immediately.

When putting names forward for consideration, Members are asked to consider the need for committees to represent the Canadian mathematics community and to be balanced by mathematical areas of expertise, region and diversity such as gender, age, ethnicity, etc.
