Should I pay taxes when purchasing membership?
Membership dues are not taxable. However, if you are subscribing to any of our publications and you reside in Canada, you have to pay taxes for the subscription(s) purchased. If you are a non-Canadian subscriber taxes are not applicable.
Shipping and handling charges are included in the subscription price for the current year, but are subject to back issues. For all non-Canadian addresses payment is required in US funds.
I’d like to purchase a membership, but it’s July. Will my membership be active until July of next year?
CMS membership is based on the calendar year. This means that if you purchase a membership at mid-point through the year it will remain active until December 31st of that year.
How do I become a sponsored student?
Can I pay for more than one year of membership?
Yes, you can pay for up to three years in advance for your CMS membership. In this case, you will secure the current year’s rate for the years purchased (rates may become higher in the next year).
As a new member paying the New Member category (a 5 year commitment), you will have the option to secure the current year’s rate for all five years if paying all five years in advance.
I am a member of a reciprocal society and I live in Canada. Can I use your reciprocal rates to pay for my membership?
The reciprocal rates are applicable only to members residing outside of Canada.
What is the Website account?
The CMS web account offers numerous electronic services to CMS members including renewals, changes to personal data, database searches, on-line versions of CMS publications etc. Please note that you will only have online access to the services purchased.
What should I do to activate my website account?
An individual member logging into a CMS website for the first time must activate their CMS website account. If you are a new member, you will receive the instructions on how to do it by e-mail.
If you are a returning member and for some reason you can not access your account, please contact us at email@example.com in order to have your account reset.
What type of online access will I have?
As an individual member, your online access will be based on username and password. This basically means that you will be able to access your web account using your username/password from one computer at a time. For information on how to obtain your username/password, please click here.
