The Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a tenure-track position starting July 1, 2020. Candidates should have developed a successful research program in algebraic geometry or a closely related area. Demonstrated success in developing and applying methods of algebraic geometry to solve problems in areas such as algebraic statistics, mathematical biology, machine learning, and big data is particularly welcome. Candidates must have a PhD degree or equivalent in mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser comprises 42 faculty with a broad range of research and teaching interests. We seek candidates with an outstanding independent research program, evidence of excellence in teaching, and who will enthusiastically engage in our dynamic and highly collegial culture.
The primary responsibilities of the position include developing and maintaining an active, externally- funded research program; teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in our department; and participating in departmental, university, and professional service. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise students in our Master's and PhD programs.
