The Department of Mathematics in the University of Toronto invites applications for one three year Contractually Limited Term Appointment in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will hold the title of Coxeter Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence July 1, 2018 and end June 30, 2021.
The University of Toronto is an international leader in mathematics research and education. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or should have completed all the degree requirements by the time of appointment.
Applicants must demonstrate excellence and outstanding ability for research and teaching or teaching related activities that demonstrate excellence in teaching. Excellence in research will be demonstrated by an impactful PhD thesis and/ or published or forthcoming papers in top-tiered journals, as well as presentations at significant conferences. Outstanding ability for research will be demonstrated by strong endorsements by referees of top international stature and the research statement. Evidence of excellence in teaching must be provided through at least one strong letter of reference that speaks to teaching ability, and the teaching statement which must contain a teaching philosophy, and excellence in other teaching related activities. These activities can include performance as a teaching assistant, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
