Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position in Game Theory and Applications

Employer: Dr. Monica Cojocaru, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, University of Guelph
Location: Guelph, ON Canada
Start date: September 1st, 2018

A post-doctoral fellowship (PDF) in Mathematical Modelling with emphasis in Game Theory, specifically generalized Nash games (GNE) and their applications, is available in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The PDF will be part of a research team lead by Dr. M. Cojocaru. The PDF will work on developing new theoretical results that enhance our understanding and our computation abilities for classes of generalized Nash games, and they will work on cutting edge research relating GNE with applications in population health and environmental models. This position is for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, subject on performance. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Exploring new results relating generalized Nash games, equilibrium problems, evolutionary stable states and Nash equilibria selection questions;
  • Building, coding and analyzing generalized Nash game theoretic models applied to population health problems and/or environmental problems;
  • Writing peer-reviewed publications and reports;
  • Conference, seminar and workshop participation.

Requirements

  • PhD in mathematics or applied mathematics (optimization, game theory, variational analysis, equilibrium problems etc., mathematical biology) or a closely related discipline (Physics, Engineering or Computer Science), with a strong interest in both theoretical and applied research.
  • Advanced programming expertise in at least one of Matlab, R, Python;
  • The sense of urgency necessary to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities

Applications should be sent via email to: mcojocar@uoguelph.ca
