The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a Max Wyman Term Assistant Professorship in Applied Mathematics. This is a non-tenure-track, three-year fixed-term position under the Contract Academic Staff: Teaching Agreement. The position offers an excellent research and teaching environment with a reduced teaching load (averaging two one-semester courses per year). A startup research grant is included with the position. Salary is commensurate with that of an Assistant Professor.

We are looking for a person with a PhD (or near completion) in applied mathematics, excellent research potential and strong communication and teaching skills. Candidates are expected to develop an independent research program and will be eligible to apply for federal research funds in accordance with University policies and procedures.

Alberta is one of the leading Mathematics Departments in Canada and has strong connections with other mathematical institutes, such as the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), and the Banff International Research Station (BIRS).
