“The COMC is the premier national mathematics competition that is open to anyone with an interest in mathematics” said Anthony To-Ming Lau, President, CMS. “The competition is specifically designed so that students at all levels across Canada can find interesting challenges. And the skills that these students are developing will help them throughout their careers.”
“The Sun Life Financial COMC provides students with a unique opportunity to discover, learn, and apply mathematics, and more importantly, to fuel an interest that is critical to our future.” noted Ian VanderBurg, Chair, COMC. “Today, mathematics is more important than ever to help sustain our individual and national success.”
The competition is one in a series of CMS competitions leading to the selection of the Canadian student team to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The purpose of the COMC is to encourage students to explore, discover, and learn more about mathematics and problem solving.
