The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Mathematics at the Assistant Professor level.  An appointment at a higher level may be possible under exceptional circumstances.  The Department offers an excellent research environment with a normal teaching load of two-and-a-half courses per year.

The successful candidate will establish his/her own research program, supervise graduate students and teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.  Applicants will have a PhD or international equivalent, demonstrated accomplishments and outstanding promise in research as well as a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching.  Strong preferential consideration will be given to applicants whose work makes use of Geometric Methods in Applied Mathematics.

The University of Alberta has one of the leading Mathematics departments in Canada, with strong connections to other mathematical institutes, such as the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), and the Banff International Research Station (BIRS).  For more information about the Department, please visit www.math.ualberta.ca.
