The Faculty of Science & Technology at Vancouver Island University invites applications for the position, Math Instructor.
The Math Instructor will be required to teach calculus and elementary statistics/biometrics courses at the first- and second-year level. In addition to the, the Math Instructor will prepare and give lectures, create assignments and tests, grade submitted work, and coordinate courses with other members of the Mathematics department.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
This temporary, full-time appointment will be made effective January 05, 2015. As a leave replacement position the appointment end date may be extended or end early dependent on return of incumbent.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics from an appropriately accredited institution and provide demonstrated relevant technology competencies.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
